What is a Vibrant Community?

A Vibrant Community is a diverse and inclusive place where people and programs collaborate to provide personal, organizational, and environmental prosperity.  It is a place where a compassionate community leads to an abundant amount of opportunities and services available to help everyone and everything reach their true potential.  A Vibrant Community is the home to many engaging parks, museums, and public places filled with members of the community.

Grantmaking Programs

General Operating & Program Support Grant:
The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation invests in the community by making grants to vital nonprofit agencies that are turning donations into action. The Community Foundation is strategic in its grantmaking, and has selected five grant focus areas in order to make the greatest impact to Pierce County. Under the Vibrant Community strategy, the Community Foundation makes both general operating and program support grants.

Organizational Capacity Grant:
To be eligible to receive an Organizational Capacity grant, agencies must first meet the priorities in one of the five grant focus areas and make the connection between how an Organizational Capacity grant will maximize the opportunities for the agency to accomplish these priorities. The Community Foundation provides revolving grants throughout the year, up to $2,000, that develop and/or strengthen:  Fiscal responsibility, board governance, sustainability, technical assistance and asset development.

Capital Projects:
The 2011 capital projects grant cycle is suspended until 2012. We apologize for any inconvenience.
