Grant Guidelines
Background
The Youth Against Violence (YAV) Philanthropy Board was created by the Board of Directors of The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation to provide young people in Tacoma-Pierce County with the tools to become philanthropic and community leaders in the effort to reduce and prevent youth violence in our community. The YAV Philanthropy Board is the Community Foundation’s Grants Committee for the Youth Against Violence Fund.
Vision
The YAV Philanthropy Board envisions a thriving community for youth filled with hope, respect and optimism.
The YAV Philanthropy Board developed funding priorities that will support programs to achieve this vision.
Funding Priorities
The Youth Against Violence Philanthropy Board believes that self-esteem, empowerment and healthy choices are vital elements for youth in a safe community. The YAV Philanthropy Board will support programs that reflect these elements, connect youth to alternatives to violence, and involve youth in being part of the solution.
Available Funding
The YAV Philanthropy Board has $75,000 available for distribution in 2012 towards programs that serve youth in the Tacoma/Pierce County community. This is nearly quadruple the $20,000 amount that was available in 2011 for distribution.
