Apprenticeship and Non-traditional Employment for Women

ANEW improves peoples’ lives by providing quality training, employment navigation and supportive services leading to successful family wage careers.

In 2015-2016, we had 58 new enrollments, 29 placements in registered apprenticeship programs and 3 placements in family wage jobs in Pierce County. We assisted 68 people with support services to overcome barriers to entry or retention to apprenticeship programs.

ANEW serves individuals who wish to enter the construction trades. ANEW provides an 11-week Trades Rotation Program, a pre-apprenticeship training recognized by the State of Washington Department of Labor and Industry. This program is a 300 – 350 hour program which readies participants for a construction trades apprenticeship. ANEW also provides case management and barrier reduction to individuals enrolled in an apprenticeship program.
