It’s an evening celebrating the spirit of aloha! Join us for refreshments, the history of tropical cocktails, a lively gallery tour, a peek into a local vintage aloha shirt collection, and even live ukulele music! Dr. Linda A. Bradley, Professor Emeritus at Washington State University, will lead you on a fun, fast-paced tour through the colorful exhibition Art of the Aloha Shirt. She will review the roots of aloha attire and share insights into the broader cultural and historical significance of this style. Dr. Bradley researches textiles and clothing as material culture, and examines the social, cultural, historic, and psychological aspects of dress.

During the reception, cocktail historian Renee Cebula will explain how the fruits and foods of the tropics influenced Tiki cocktail culture, and she’ll show you how to make a few drink recipes.

Local collector David Bader will delight you with a show-and-tell of vintage aloha shirts from his extensive collection, as he presents a deeper understanding of how the style has changed over time.
