City of Tacoma at Maker City: Mayor’s Monday Mixer networking event

October 17, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Are you a maker in Tacoma?

We invite you to come to the next Mayor’s Monday Mixer October 17 to network and talk about crafting the future of our city.

Whether you are an artist, a manufacturer, an inventor, a tinkerer, or a designer you are a maker and the Mixer is an informal way to meet other makers, content experts, government representatives and interested parties to share information and build community.

“Tacoma is built on a rich history of innovation and manufacturing,” said Mayor Marilyn Strickland.  “Now we are poised to advance our position as a Maker City again by strengthening opportunities for our local talent to thrive. Much like Brooklyn, where the Etsy Maker City Summit was held earlier this year, we have a thriving artisan community that takes great pride in their work.”

You will have opportunities to meet Stephen Jones from Tacoma Manufacturing Company as well as Tim and April Norris from Tim+April who were the forces behind Tacoma’s invitation to participate in the Etsy Maker City Summit.

In addition, there will be representatives from mixer co-host Spaceworks Tacoma, Fablab, IDEA (the Industrial Design Engineering Art high school), co-working and maker spaces, the Office of Arts & Cultural Vitality plus hundreds of fellow makers.

Join the City of Tacoma at Maker City: Mayor’s Monday Mixer networking event held at 1120 Creative House (1120 Pacific Ave., 2nd Floor) on Monday, Oct. 17, 5 – 7 p.m.

Monday Mixers are free to attend and open to all. Details at TacomaMeansBusiness.com
