Gig Harbor Film Festival 72 Hour Film Competition
April 8, 2018
Calling all Aspiring Filmmakers!
Have you ever thought you’d like to try your hand at filmmaking, but felt you didn’t have the time, or didn’t know where to begin? Or maybe you have kids who constantly sneak off with your smartphone to create their latest installment “for YouTube”? Well, the Gig Harbor Film Festival has an opportunity you won’t want to miss. With its 3 day time limit, and informative orientation session, The GHFF’s 72 Hour Film Competition will provide you and yours with the motivation, guidance, and deadline needed to start and complete your very own film!
The competition consists of 3 main components.
1) Registration and Orientation: Sign yourself (or your team) up online www.gigharborfilm.org or in the office between now and March 3rd. Attend the Orientation on March 3rd at Henderson Bay High School between 1:00-3:00pm, where our team of film experts will give you some basic starting points to create your masterpiece.
2) Filming and Editing: Start the clock and your cameras at 6:00pm on March 15th to shoot your film within the 72 Hour time limit. All filming will wrap up on March 18th and completed films must be submitted to the GHFF by 6:00pm.
3) Screening and Awards: Brace yourself for the thrill of seeing your film on the big screen at the Galaxy Theatre. All film selections will screen from 2:00-4:00pm. Following the screenings, awards will be presented, refreshments will be served, (careers will be launched…) from 4:30-6:00pm at The Inn at Gig Harbor.
With categories for filmmakers of all ages, this fun, community event is open to anyone with a camera and a story to tell. Come be a part of artistic history in the making!
Registration for filmmakers is $60 per team www.gigharborfilm.org
Audience tickets to the Screening and Awards Reception are $10 at the door.
