Japanese American Community Resource Scanning Day

August 15, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

The Washington State History Museum is preparing a new exhibition about the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII as a result of Executive Order 9066. We are seeking resources to connect this story to people in our state. Can you share your history? Please bring any relevant photographs, letters, documents, drawings or pamphlets to scan, share, and add  to the archive, and we’ll provide you with a copy of the digitized version along with returning your original materials. This will be the first of several Japanese American resource scanning events, in collaboration with Densho Digital Repositories. Sign up for a scheduled scanning time in advance by contacting Gwen Whiting at 253-798-5927. Find out more on our website at WashingtonHistory.org/9066.
