As COVID-19 and the necessary public health measures to address it disrupt the normal operations of nonprofits and community service providers in Pierce County, each of us has the ability to strengthen our community by giving to the organizations and causes that matter to us.
GTCF recognizes the impact of COVID-19 reveals where social systems are not supporting or addressing needs in a sustainable, inclusive, and equitable way. These challenges show how fragile the social safety net is and the limitations of current service providers to continue meeting needs during times of crisis.
To support urgent human service needs, GTCF launched this emergency response fund, PIERCE COUNTY CONNECTED, with a $750,000 seed contribution.
PIERCE COUNTY CONNECTED funding will focus on supporting first responders and health care providers to continue meeting the public health needs of the community. The funds will also provide support for vulnerable populations mostly likely to suffer from the normal service disruptions caused by COVID-19.
A dedicated live blog, STAYING CONNECTED DURING SOCIAL DISTANCING, provides updates of community service disruptions, needs that are surfacing, and available resources. Send updates for the blog to [email protected]
This is a rapidly developing situation. GTCF is working closely with networks across the county to align responses. Further details about funding will be posted as they are available.
While the impact of COVID-19 is extraordinary, we can all make an even greater impact for good by supporting the people, organizations, and causes that make this a thriving community. GTCF encourages everyone to give generously in any way they can.DONATE NOW
