My family has been part of the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church congregation since 1981. What activity, place, or event do you recommend other people check out in Pierce County?
Getting outside, hiking.
What is the most inspiring book that you have read and why?
The Nisqually, My People by Cecilia Svinth Carpenter - Cecilia was a Nisqually Tribal member and local historian who worked her whole life to research and record the history and traditions of the Nisqually Tribe. She was an amazing woman that I had the privilege to meet with a few times before she passed in 2010. She helped record important information about the Nisqually people that otherwise could have been lost. Her information helps us understand today how we can protect the places and natural resources that are important for the future of the Nisqually Tribe, stewards of the land since time immemorial.
