A Proud Heritage – An African American Family History Event

February 25, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

For African Americans, finding your ancestors can be especially challenging. To celebrate Black History Month, the Tacoma Family History Center is hosting a FREE genealogy workshop designed specifically for individuals with African American ancestry. It will be held February 25, 2023 from 9AM to 2PM at the Tacoma Family History Center, 5915 S. 12th St. in Tacoma Washington. This workshop will offer step-by-step guidance on how to find your roots and trace your family tree. You will also learn how to access NEW resources specific to African American genealogy, and get tips about telling your own personal family story for your descendants. Class schedules, and registration information are available at www.tacomaaafhe.com/home. Celebrate Black History Month by learning how to piece the stories of your ancestors together and bring them to life. Honor your ancestors by finding and remembering their names.

Volunteers are needed to help plan and stage this event. If you have an interest in African American genealogy we would LOVE to have your input and help. For information on volunteering please contact Alisha Chang at alishapchang@gmail.com.
