Final Year of Women and Girls Empowerment Funding

In March 2016 Greater Tacoma Community Foundation announced that we would be taking the next year to consider the astounding potential of the Fund for Women and Girls. In this year of transition, we have been gathering local, regional and national data on the status of women and girls. We’ve begun meeting with experts, reviewing best practices, and studying change theories. We’ve learned a lot.

Our research has confirmed that the Fund for Women and Girls will look different next year, and that means the grant making will look different too. As we begin to learn more we’ll be asking to hear about your experiences at town hall meetings, focus groups and coffee house chats. We need your help and we’ll be sharing more details about those opportunities soon.

This year the Fund for Women and Girls will award one-year grants up to $7,500 of general operating support for programs that encourage self-esteem, self-reliance and empowerment for women and girls. The Fund for Women and Girls is particularly interested in funding programs that show measurable impact for women and girls.

This funding type does not support capital projects or purchases such as computers, automobiles, infrastructure improvements, or buildings, etc.
