Calling all Tacomans who care about making Tacoma a culturally vibrant and innovative community. We want to talk!

In November 2018, Tacoma voters passed Tacoma Creates: a groundbreaking initiative that shows the importance of a strong cultural community in a thriving city. The City of Tacoma now has the opportunity – and the responsibility – to make Tacoma even better through increased support for arts, science, heritage, and culture organizations. What will that look like? How will we ensure access and equity? How will we measure success and be accountable to you, our citizens?

We’ll start off the evening with an overview of what Tacoma Creates is, what funding will support, what kinds of organizations will be eligible to apply for funding, overall process and timeline, and next steps.

We’ll then launch in to small group conversations to envision end results of Tacoma Creates and how to get there, together. What will make Tacoma Creates successful? After several years of this investment, how will our community be changed? Who are the community partners who come together to make this all happen?

We want to hear from the diverse voices and talents throughout our city. We depend on your unique insights into how we can continue to advance Tacoma. The contributions of every sector, neighborhood, age, ethnicity, and ability are necessary for our success.

This event is free and open to the public. Supervised children are welcome; teens and young adults are encouraged to participate. Light refreshments will be served.
