Washington State Historical Society: Olmsted Legacy at the Washington State Capitol Campus

Join Washington State Historical Society on the Washington State Capitol Campus in Olympia to explore the Olmsted legacy on Thursday, August 17, 1:00 PM– 4:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served.

Historian and filmmaker Laurence Cotton will take us on a visual tour of masterful landscapes designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, a Renaissance-man considered to be the father of landscape architecture in the United States.

Historian Jennifer Ott will talk about the PNW landscape legacy of John Charles Olmsted, Frederick’s adopted son, with a focus on Olmsted landscapes in Puget Sound region.

Conclude the event with a guided tour of the Capitol Campus led by Washington State’s horticulturalist Brent Chapman.
